Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat was born on 19 August 1941 in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand.
At Nuranang during Sino-Indian War, he held off an entire Chinese battalion single-handedly for 72 hours. Assisted by local girls Sela and Nura. Chinese sent his belongings back with a note of respect.
